I’m Sarah Reed.
I qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 1998 and in the course of my employment as Resident Agent on a large country estate in Sussex refurbished many of the 136 properties there. Some were flats in the centre of the village, some cottages, others larger country houses. Usually the houses needed central heating, plumbing, wiring, insulation and roofing work in addition to redecoration. Many of the buildings were English Heritage Grade II listed and my challenge was to transform them respectfully into modern, light, family-friendly spaces.
I developed a special interest and passion in this area and my skill for on-time, on-budget renovations was much valued by my employers. The incoming tenants delighted in the sympathetic refurbishments of their new homes and my ability to listen to their needs and achieve style and comfort pre-tenancy within my employers’ commercial budgetary constraints.
I then went to work on refurbishing my own historic manor house, incorporating a new orangery as a large kitchen extension, together with a new gated access and swimming pool within a walled garden. I redesigned the established and extensive but old-fashioned gardens and grounds to incorporate a large stone entertaining terrace leading on to a box- and lavender-edged parterre infilled with scented roses and bulbs accessed from all the main living spaces to truly bring the outside in.
With considerable experience working for national estate agencies and good relationships with local firms, I know what sells and what doesn’t and can help my commercially-savvy clients to spend money wisely. I have built up a team of reliable and experienced craftsmen and a large network of contacts within the building trade, ensuring that I can marry up the right people for each job. It doesn’t matter what the size or style of the house or what your budget, together we can make your vision a reality.
